Port of Beirut – Hazardous Waste Recovery
After the 2020 explosion in the Port of Beirut, Trade Waste International led and coordinated on-site operations together with European partners and local response teams to ensure the safe repackaging, removal, and export of toxic chemical residues. The Port of Beirut acted as the contracting authority. All activities were carried out in full compliance with international regulations and implemented safely and responsibly.
In 2021, Trade Waste International was recalled to Beirut by the United Nations. On behalf of the UN, our team trained customs authorities and civil defence personnel in the safe handling of hazardous chemicals and ensured a secure, environmentally compliant transport to final disposal

2022 Lascombes Fire – Full On-Site Operational Coordination
In 2022, following the fire on board the cargo vessel Lascombes, Trade Waste International (TWI) assumed full on-site operational leadership and coordination of the response measures.
Working closely with emergency services, port authorities and involved partners, our team ensured the safe handling, classification and disposal of fire-damaged and contaminated materials.
The scope of work included the coordination of all waste and hazardous material processes, close cooperation with regulatory authorities, and the execution of a fully compliant, safe and environmentally responsible disposal strategy under ongoing emergency conditions at the Port of Bremerhaven.
All activities were carried out under strict safety requirements and fully documented.

2022 Kiel Canal Oil Spill – On-Site Operational Coordination
In 2022, Trade Waste International (TWI) supported response operations following an oil spill incident on the Kiel Canal, which resulted in extensive contamination and a temporary suspension of vessel traffic.
Our team was involved in the operational coordination of waste and hazardous material processes, supporting the safe collection, handling and disposal of oil-contaminated residues.
All activities were carried out under ongoing emergency conditions in close coordination with authorities, emergency services and involved stakeholders. The objective was the rapid restoration of environmental safety and operational readiness, ensuring fully compliant and environmentally responsible waste management.
All measures were implemented in accordance with applicable environmental and safety regulations and comprehensively documented.
